If there is one thing that is certain, it is that Google does not shine with its ability to keep a secret. A few months ago, leaks concerning a 5G variant of the Pixel 4a surfaced on the web. Today, new information about future Google smartphones is circulating on the web.
As usual, this news comes to us from the specialized site 9To5Google. A well-informed source working for this media managed to get hold of an internal Google document that reveals the existence of several new devices that should be unveiled by the Mountain View firm by 2021.
Code name “passport”
The document that fell into the hands of 9To5Google contains information concerning the Pixel 4a, 4a 5G and Pixel 5. However, what caught the attention of our colleagues is the mention of three code names that correspond to new devices that have yet to be announced by the tech giant.
The code names that appeared in this document are: “raven”, “oriole” and “passport. Sources agree that “raven” and “oriole” correspond to the future Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 XL. Finally, “passport” would be the code name given to Google’s foldable Pixel.
A presentation that should take place at the end of 2021
In view of this information, it seems that Google has changed its tune when it comes to foldable smartphones. As a reminder, when the Pixel 3a was released, the Mountain View company was skeptical of this concept. Still, that didn’t stop Mario Queiroz, the boss of the Pixel line at the time, from revealing that he had been working on the technology for a while.
If we trust the information relayed by the 9To5Google site, Google should unveil these new smartphones towards the end of 2021. Indeed, the internal document of the web giant stipulates that these devices will make their debut during “Q4 2021” , that is to say during the last quarter of the year.
