The research firm OMDIA has just unveiled its ranking of the 10 best-selling smartphones in the first half of this year. As for the same period in 2019, Apple was a hit.
As autumn approaches, a sign that manufacturers are preparing to unsheathe their respective spearheads, the analysis firm OMDIA gives us its Top 10 terminals that have sold the best on the market between January and June 2020. For the umpteenth time, the Cupertino company remains in the lead, this time thanks to the iPhone 11. The most affordable version of the 2019 iPhone actually sold 37.7 million units in the first half of 2020. Like 9to5mac note , the Covid-19 pandemic did not prevent the Apple from setting a new record.
A ranking dominated by the American giant
The second place in the new ranking is given to the Galaxy A51, while last year this rank was occupied by the Galaxy A10. Samsung’s mid-range device announced in December 2019 recorded a shipment volume of 11.4 million units. The Redmi Note 8 is in third position with 10.2 million copies sold.
In general, we can say that these new data published by OMDIA reflect the dominant position that Apple occupies in the mobile telephony market. Five iOS devices are actually in the Top 10. This is the case of the iPhone SE 2020 which sold 8.7 million units. 5th in the standings, the entry-level terminal is directly followed by the iPhone XR. The iPhone 11 Pro closes the list with a sales volume of 6.7 million units.
