The market for the foldable smartphone is slowly emerging, with the first models unveiled. The Chinese firm Huawei has marketed the Mate Xs, only available in China, while Apple is working on its own model, like Xiaomi. It is Samsung, the leader in telephony that will have taken the plunge by offering the Galaxy Fold in several countries around the world, including France. A premium foldable smartphone, but unfortunately intended for a niche with its price of 2,500 euros! Then rebelote with the Galaxy Z Flip, also very expensive, and its price at 2000 euros.
Despite this niche, Samsung is continuing its efforts on the side of foldable smartphones and will soon market a Galaxy Z Flip… 5G.
5G at the rendezvous and a redesigned technical sheet
The photo below shows the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. Unsurprisingly, the smartphone will identical to the aesthetics of its predecessor. The model has since been certified by TENAA, a Chinese organization that validates products before marketing. The release of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is therefore close: it remains to be seen whether the foldable smartphone will reach our territory, like the previous one.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G has chosen to adopt a shape reminiscent of our old flip phones. A very different orientation from the Galaxy Fold, which opens like a book, lengthwise. But Samsung has not finished with this range since the Galaxy Fold 2 may well be presented at the conference scheduled for August, where the much-awaited Galaxy Note 20 will also be present.
But what more does the Galaxy Z Flip 5G offer, in addition to 5G connectivity? The technical sheet of the smartphone has been redesigned. And not necessarily for the best since drops can be seen in certain elements: the double sensor and the battery. Below is a list of the main differences.
Galaxy Z Flip:
- SoC Snapdragon 855
- 3300 mAh battery
- 12 megapixel dual sensor
Galaxy Z Flip 5G:
- SoC Snapdragon 865
- 3204 mAh battery
- One 12-megapixel sensor, the other 10-megapixel
As for the rest of the datasheet, we will find a 6.7-inch OLED panel, a 1.05-inch screen, 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM.
